HMSHost streamlines operations

11-Jun-2002

HMSHost, the leading US airport concessions operator, is consolidating its financial operations and adding employees to its company headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland

As part of its new National Processing Center, the company is adding 150 jobs to compile data from its various business lines. HMSHost said the 25,000sq ft (2,323sq m) centre will streamline the company's accounting functions, which until now were done at its branch offices around the country.

"This addition to our company will centralise data compilation, allowing us to respond more quickly and efficiently with services and concepts to meet traveller demands," said HMSHost ceo John McCarthy.

HMSHost, formerly known as Host Marriott Services and Host International, has about $1.6bn in revenues, mainly from food & beverage and retail concessions in 74 airports. Airport concessions make up about 76% of its business, while motorway plaza and domestic food court operations make up the remainder.
