HMSHost and local partner The Houston 8 Team have been awarded a seven-year retail contract to develop and operate 17 news and speciality stores at Houston Intercontinental airport.  The company anticipated that the outlets, which are due for construction later this year, would generate revenue of over $190m during the seven years.

An HMSHost spokesperson told TRW that key store concepts would include a FOX News Channel news stand offering Satellite News, a fully-automated kiosk capable of printing more than 150 international and national newspapers; Clyde Drexler's Sports Scene, an outlet featuring local sporting goods and inspired by the eponymous NBA all-star; and Destination Houston, a shop-in-shop concept offering local merchandise from Nasa and Space Center Houston (Space Trader), beachwear and sailing accessories (Gulf Coast Sunstyles) and local culinary specialities (Taste of Texas).

The concepts will join other HMSHost stores including News Connection, Simply Books, Fossil, Pacific Sliver, Sporting Eyes, and Airport Wireless.

?HMSHost is proud to be part of Houston Intercontinental's efforts to create a truly exceptional airport shopping experience,? said HMSHost president and ceo John J. McCarthy.  ?Our joint venture with the Houston 8 has put together an outstanding concept lineup.  We look forward to much success.?
