Italian company Autogrill has announced that its US division HMSHost has acquired travel retailer CBR Incorporated’s 34 speciality retail outlets at nine US airports: Baltimore Washington/Thurgood Marshall International, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International, Denver International, Houston George Bush Intercontinental, Minneapolis/St Paul International, Nashville International, Newark Liberty International, Pittsburgh International, Portland International and Salt Lake City International. The agreement stipulates that an additional seven points of sale at four airports will be also acquired as soon as the airports consent to the sale, according to Autogrill’s statement. The deal is worth about $23m.

CBR president Carole Howe said: CBR Specialty Retail will continue to be an industry leader in airport retail. We are excited to become part of HMSHost/Autogrill group and continue to grow our award-winning concepts.

HMSHost CEO Elie Maalouf said: “We are delighted to welcome the CBR associates to the HMSHost and Autogrill team. Under this new arrangement, the existing Minnesota-based CBR management team and associates will continue to offer the quality products and high level of customer care that has made their shops so popular with airport travelers around the US.”
