The retailer will open a stand-alone duty-free store and a Relay outlet at Québec International airport in June

Lagardère Services subsidiary HDS Retail North America won the tender for duty-free and news and gifts concessions at Québec International airport. The retail operator will open a stand-alone duty-free shop and a Relay news and gifts outlet at the airport’s newly expanded terminal, scheduled to open in June 2008 as part of a C$200m ($195m) long-term development master plan and Québec City’s 400-year anniversary celebrations.

HDS Retail North America said in a statement that the city’s anniversary events, already underway and continuing throughout 2008, will bring a record number of tourists to Québec and through the airport. The modernised terminal will provide services to all domestic, transborder (to and from the US) and international flights.

DFNI understands that Aer Rianta International North America also bid for the two locations.
