Gulf Air and Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Duty Free announced this week they have joined forces to offer the airline's customers flying First or business class the chance to win a total of Dhs6m ($1.6m) between now and the end of January 2003

The promotion also provides First and business customers travelling to any destination in the Gulf Air network, free gift vouchers up to the value of Dhs500 ($136) which are redeemable in either Abu Dhabi or Al Ain duty-free shops against purchases or a duty-free raffle voucher.

Gulf Air customers travelling to Europe, Australia, Asia, US and Canada will receive an Dhs500 ($136) gift voucher while customers travelling to the Indian sub-continent, Middle East (except GCC) and Africa will receive an Dhs250 ($68) gift voucher.

"On redemption, these vouchers are then entered into the raffle, which offers a weekly prize of Dhs500,000 ($136,000) for the next twelve weeks," said Gulf Air UAE general manager Mahfood Al Harthy.

Abu Dhabi & Al Ain Duty Free managing director Mohamed Mounib commented,  "We are delighted to be teaming up with Gulf Air to offer its customers the opportunity to win big over the next few months. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Duty Free shops have more than 65,000 items on sale, so with up to Dhs500 in free vouchers to spend, we are recommending passengers allow a little more time for some serious shopping before departure."

As revealed by Duty-Free News International, Aer Rianta International is to take over the Gulf Air inflight duty-free contract in a three-year contract.
