Arriving passengers are driving spend at Malaysian retailer Eraman's outlets at the new Kuala Lumpur International airport low-cost carrier terminal

Malaysian airport retailer Eraman has reported a brisk start at Kuala Lumpur International airport's new low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT), with arriving passengers driving spend at its 12 outlets at the new facility.

Eraman director and CEO Umar Bustaman said that generous spending among passengers arriving from Thailand, Indonesia and Macau, had led to an average spend of M$170 ($46.32) per passenger.

Among Eraman's portfolio at the LCCT are two general merchandise duty-free stores and five food and beverage outlets. Bustaman said he anticipated that the LCCT, which opened in March, would welcome more than 5m passengers in its first year of operation.
