Gonzalez Byass advances
Leading Spanish sherry producer Gonzalez Byass , has recorded its best ever international sales in its 2001-2002 financial year, which closed in August
Full results will be out in November but international director Pedro Rebuelta told TRW: "Export sales, not including Croft Original, are up 20% on the previous year. Duty-free and travel retail have played a major part in the growth with strong growth in Spain in Aldeasa, Provimar and other operators. Sales in the UK duty-free sector more than doubled with strong growth coming from the repackaged Tio pepe and Soberano Brandy."
"We are also very pleased with the incorporation of the Croft Original brand which has given us additional volume with UK operators," he added.
At the TFWA World Exhibition Gonzalez Byass has presented two new line extensions for its top of the range Lepanto Brandy. Normal Lepanto is aged with a mixture of vintage ageing and solera and criadera. Lepanto OV follows the same process but for the last 12 months in the solera system the brandy is finished in Oloroso Viejo casks. Likewise, Lepanto PX is finished in Pedro Ximenez casks.
