Goldpfeil targets Americas travel-retail expansion
German leathergoods company Goldpfeil is targeting the Americas duty-free and domestic market during 2001. Export director Angelika Langefeld, commented: "We have just started growing the US domestic business by opening several corners on the US west coast and are moving eastwards with several new points opening over the next few months."
Goldpfeil openings scheduled include a corner with Malm's Luggage at the South Coats Plaza shopping mall located between Los Angeles and San Diego and another with Malm's Luggage at Carmel in a similarly upmarket mall. Other cities featured in the plan are Scottsdale in Arizona, Chicago and Waikki in Hawaii where Goldpfeil will appear alongside other luxury brands. "All these openings are in very prestigious shopping areas," said Langefeld.
In total Goldpfeil is looking at opening ten new corners or shop-within-shops this year in the US domestic market. Projects coming up include Grant Avenue San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Houston, Denver and New York. "We are confident that this strong presence in the domestic market will provide us with a good springboard into US duty-free," said Langefeld.
