Golden Week helps Kansai post record

Daily duty-free sales at Kansai International top $575,000 during Japan's annual holiday week

As Japan enjoys its annual Golden Week holiday, which this year lasts from April 29 to May 9, Osaka airport authority and retailer Kansai International Airport Co (KIAC) has posted a new daily sales record in its duty-free outlet, operated in partnership with JATCo. On May 1 sales reached ¥62,292,560 ($575,560), the highest daily sales revenue for KIAC since Osaka Kansai airport opened in 1994.

KIAC director airside business and advertisement space management Takao Matsunami told TRW: ?I would like to make this record a trigger toward strong recovery this year.?
