Global first as Nokia debuts at Heathrow T5

The mobile phone provider is to open its debut airport store at the new terminal

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is sets to open its first airport flagship store at London Heathrow’s new terminal five when it opens on March 27.
 
Nokia is taking 60sq m (646sq ft) of retail space in the departures concourse of the terminal, which is predicted to handle 27m passengers in its first year. The store “designed to set the benchmark in technology retailing practice” will allow visitors to test the latest Nokia mobile phones, multimedia computers and learn about Nokia’s range of services and technologies.
 
Nokia UK managing director Simon Ainslie said: “In championing our brand, the flagship store will be dynamic, original and beautifully designed. It will showcase Nokia devices and our full range of services including city guides and Nokia maps to help travellers find their way around their destinations. In addition, our staff will be on hand to help update customers’ mobile music collections from the Nokia Music Store, for (their) long flights”.
 
T5 retail director Nick Ziebland said: “We are delighted that a company of Nokia’s stature has committed to open its first ever airport store in T5.”
