Scotch whisky supplier Glenmorangie has created a new wood finish that will initially be available only in duty-free.

Scotch whisky supplier Glenmorangie has created a new wood finish that will initially be available only in duty-free. Glenmorangie Burgundy Wood Finish is a 10yo malt matured in wine barrels from the Côte d'Or region in Burgundy, and will be priced at £26.99 ($45) for a one-litre bottle. It is now being launched in travel-retail markets worldwide.

Glenmorangie European sales director and head of duty-free Paul Miles said: "The duty-free market has played a key role in growing malt whisky consumption globally as a high proportion of those who travel are malt drinkers. The launch of Burgundy Wood Finish in duty-free, ahead of the domestic launch, recognises the enormous potential of this market and highlights the value of exposing these core malt consumers to new ideas in the right environment."

A domestic launch in selected markets is planned for late 2003.
