The retailer’s turnover at Amsterdam Schiphol airport rose by 15% in 2007
Gerzon Schiphol has won the 2007 Growth Award at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport Consumer Relations Awards, held on February 21, after achieving a 15% increase in sales in the year ended December 31. Passenger numbers rose by 3.8% in the period. According to Gerzon, the retailer has achieved an increase in turnover of 70% over the past five years. This is the second time the operator has won the award, having been nominated consecutively since 2005.
A company statement also said that its fashion stores at Schiphol T1 and T3 will be renovated and expanded after Gerzon won a new leathergoods and shoes concession. Following the refurbishment, the operator will have new retail spaces of over 330sq m (3,552sq ft) and 240sq m (2,583sq ft) respectively.
Gerzon managing director Philip Gerzon said: “Winning the award for the second time is validation of our continuous hard work and the good relations we have with our stakeholders: our personnel, suppliers and the airport authority. We have worked in unison to win the favour of our customers, because they are our judge and jury. The enthusiasm, drive and professionalism of our employees have also been important in making the 15% increase in turnover possible.”
