The operator’s first three shops at Vilnius International airport will offer liquor, wines, fragrances, cosmetics, confectionery and tobacco products
German retailer Gebr Heinemann is to open three stores at Vilnius International airport on February 1. The outlets cover a total area of 880sq m (9,472sq ft) and will offer Schengen and non-Schengen passengers a full assortment of liquor, wines, fragrances, cosmetics, confectionery and tobacco products. A fourth store offering fashion and accessories is due to open in mid-March.
Gebr Heinemann sales director Russia, CIS, Baltics and Mongolia Pierre Viarnaud told DFNIonline.com that the opening of additional shops “will depend on the growth in passenger numbers during the course of 2008”. Viarnaud added that although neither he nor his team were aware that Kaunas International airport has plans to issue a tender for commercial space, in the event Heinemann would be interested. “If it does—and if enough passengers are expected—we will consider participating but our clear focus is to develop business in the Lithuanian capital, where we see strong growth potential,” he said.
Heinemann won the tender to operate stores at Vilnius airport’s new terminal in August 2007.
