Gebr Heinemann has agreed two crucial deals in the former Soviet Union which extend its eastern influence.

The company has created a new joint venture with the airport authority in Vladivostok, named Vladivostok Duty Free. The joint venture will operate a duty-free store in the newly constructed airport terminal, which opened earlier this year. The store will open in Spring 2001.

Meanwhile, Gebr Heinemann has taken a majority stake in Stevela, the company that operates at Tallinn airport, Estonia. Gebr Heinemann already had an exclusive supply agreement with Stevela.
