The experienced retailer has left the Taiwanese company to seek new challenges in the duty-free business

EverRich Duty Free Shop Corp executive assistant Gary Chau has left the company after a total of seven years with the Taipei Chiang Kai-shek airport concessionaire. Chau, whose resignation came into effect on March 10, told DFNI Asia he hoped to find new challenges in the travel-retail business.

Chau joined the company as senior vice-president in 1998 and took an 18-month sabbatical from March 2002 to act as managing director of Bright Gain (Asia), returning as executive assistant with responsibilities including business development and merchandising.

Most recently Chau worked to secure the operator's contract extension at Chiang Kai-shek, including new space at the airport's second terminal.

Previously Chau spent seven years as a store manager for luxury department store chain Lane Crawford and a further seven years as technical adviser responsible for shop operations and merchandising for Indonesian duty-free retailer Plaza Bali.
