Workers at Madrid Barajas will stop for an extra four days

The strike committee of the employees of Spanish duty-free operator Aldeasa at Madrid Barajas airport has voted in favour of four extra days of industrial action on September 3-6. This is in addition to previous walkouts planned for August 31 and September 1-2.

Trade unions CGT and UGT have been staging strikes in a crusade for better working conditions in the Aldeasa stores of Spain’s largest airport. The walkouts do not have the support of USO and CCOO, the majority trade unions in the workers committee at the Spanish travel retailer. Both these unions signed a collective bargaining agreement with the Aldeasa management at the end of July.
