German airports group Fraport welcomed 73.8m passengers to its six airports in 2006, up by 2.3% compared with the previous year

Frankfurt International airport welcomed almost 53m passengers last year, up by 1.1% compared to 2005.

Fraport's terminal at Antalya airport in Turkey welcomed a total of 5.1m passengers in 2006, 1% more than in the previous year.

Lima Jorge Chávez airport served 6m passengers in 2006, an increase of 6.7%, while low-cost airport Frankfurt Hahn recorded a 20% surge in traffic to 3.7m passengers. Saarbrücken airport experienced a 13.6% decline to 420,216 passengers.

Fraport said that Frankfurt’s December 2006 traffic figures, which were 4.4% higher than in the same month in 2005, were boosted by an increased demand for travel to Southern European cities. It also claimed that long-haul traffic at Frankfurt was stimulated by additional flights to East Asia and North America.
