Fraport traffic figures show best October yet for Frankfurt

The group's home airport achieves record figures, contributing to a 6.8% growth in numbers for the year to date

German airport group Fraport has reported that 4.8m passengers passed through Frankfurt airport in October, record figures for that month. For the year to October the airport registered a 6.2% rise in passenger traffic.

The group cited strong demand for Mediterranean destinations due to during the Autumn school holidays and said Eastern European, Asian, South American and North African destinations had also been popular

Low-cost airport Frankfurt-Haan served 259,079 passengers in October, a rise of 11% against the same month last year, while Antalya airport in Turkey achieved a 20% increase and passenger figures at Peru's Lima airport rose 9.8%. Hanover airport traffic grew 3% while numbers at Saarbrucken airport fell by 5.8%.
