New store openings and contracts as well as sales promotion campaigns lift retail sales

German airports group Fraport has reported an 8.3% rise in revenues in the nine months to September compared with the previous corresponding period, to €1.75bn ($2.59bn). Retail and properties revenues grew 23.4% to €355.8m ($527.5m) in the period due to the Airrail Centre’s financial lease; according to the company, the adjusted figures mean revenues from retail and properties were up by 3.4%. Revenues from retail alone increased by 7.2% in the period to €106.9m (158.5m).

Fraport said that revenues from retail grew “due to new openings and new contracts as well as targeted sales promotion campaigns”, adding that retail revenue per passenger rose from €2.48 ($3.67) to €2.61 ($3.87) compared with the first nine months of 2006.
