Frankfurt steady but Fraport suffers traffic fall

Traffic is up at German airports group Fraport's flagship location, but changes at Antalya airport are behind an overall drop across the company's network
Frankfurt airport welcomed almost 5m passengers in September, a rise of 2.6% compared to the same month last year.
The growth was driven mainly by European traffic. Intercontinental traffic was boosted by strong numbers on board routes to and from South Africa and the Middle East.
Over the past three financial quarters Frankfurt has averaged growth of 2.5% compared to the same period last year.
Of the other German airports in the Fraport group, Frankfurt Hahn enjoyed an increase in traffic of 11.6%, Hanover of 7.4% and Saarbrücken of 6.5% in the nine months to the end of September.
Of Fraport's overseas airports, Lima welcomed 12.4% more passengers in the past nine months than in the same period in 2004. But Antalya airport in Turkey experienced a 55.3% fall in traffic. Fraport said this was due to disruption caused by the inauguration of a second passenger terminal at the airport. Click here for more details.
Overall, traffic at Fraport's six airports fell by 5.8% between January and September this year.
