Frankfurt reaches 50m mark

22-Dec-2004

Germany's busiest airport has exceeded 50m in annual passenger traffic for the first time this year

Frankfurt airport yesterday reached 50m passengers for the year, the first time that Germany's biggest airport has exceeded that level. Airport authority Fraport said that it would have reached this figure three years ago were it not for the events of September 11 2001.

In other news, Fraport has reacted angrily to the Filipino government's application to seize ownership of Manila International airport's new terminal three, which Fraport claims is still owned by the PIATCO consortium, in which Fraport holds a 30% stake. Fraport continues to demand compensation for the government's actions, and an arbitration procedure is under way at the World Bank in Washington.
