Gebr Heinemann-operated store could lead to the opening of other arrivals outlets
Frankfurt airport is to open its first dedicated arrivals Travel Value store by the beginning of 2006, airport authority Fraport has told RavenFox.com.
The Gebr Heinemann-operated single-price concept is at the heart of Frankfurt airport's retail offer. Travel Value shopping is available to arriving passengers at Frankfurt but until now has not been available in the baggage claim areas.
After agreeing the proposals with customs, a 65sq m (700sq ft) test store will open in the bag claim area of terminal 1B, and could lead to other arrivals stores.
Fraport senior manager retail and properties Christian Sueltemeyer said: "At the moment many returning business passengers buy after they arrive, but there's no facility for them to do so in the baggage claim area. It's an opportunity to test a new concept and see if it works."
He added: "This shop will be the test balloon for two additional shops in areas A and C of terminal one. These are planned for the next few years if the one in area B is a success."
