18-Jan-2003

Frankfurt-Hahn, the small airport west of Frankfurt operated by authority Fraport AG, saw 1.5m passengers in 2002, an increase of 226% on 2001

The strong performance was attributed to the boom in low-cost carriers, which typically make savings by using smaller regional airports.

Meanwhile, a strong December at Fraport's Frankfurt International airport saw passenger numbers rise to 3.4m, up 8% on the same month last year The result boosted numbers for the year (48.5m), which fell by only 2%, ahead of aviation industry expectations.
