Tampa, Miami, Little Rock and Wichita airport contracts are worth $855m in sales

Italy’s Autogrill Group has secured contract extensions at Tampa and Miami International, Little Rock in Arkansas and Wichita Mid-Continent airports, through its US airport retail division HMSHost. These operations are expected to boost Autogrill’s revenue by $855m over the extended contract periods.

HMSHost has been granted a five-year extension to its food and beverage (F&B) and retail concessions at Tampa International until 2015, two years before the expiry date, and extended its F&B contract at Miami International until 2011. Meanwhile, at Little Rock the company has extended its F&B and retail services contract, due to expire in 2011, by seven years until 2018, and at Wichita Mid-Continent its F&B and retail concessions will now run for an extra year until 2011.

The Tampa and Miami operations consolidate HMSHost’s business in Florida, where it has F&B and retail locations in seven of the state’s 14 airports. HMSHost vice-president business development Kevin Erickson described Tampa International as “a top performing airport that leads the industry in concession sales”.

Autogrill has also confirmed that the European Commission has cleared its proposed acquisition of the remaining 49.95% of Spanish travel retailer Aldeasa. The stake, held by tobacco company Altadis, will be acquired through Autogrill España, and brings Autogrill’s ownership of the operator to 99.90%.
