Incumbent retailer Dufry Group is understood to be among bidders for new space at the airport

Basel-Mulhouse airport has received expressions of interest from about 40 companies over new retail space at the tri-national airport. Commercial director Werner Parini told RavenFox.com that the airport hoped to make a decision on the new tenants by the end of the month.

In the Swiss landside sector of the airport eight lots are available: one on the arrivals level, four on the departures level and three on the fifth floor. In the French landside area eight lots are open to bids: four on the arrivals level, one on the departures level and three on the fifth floor. In the international airside area there are five lots, two serving the south gate and three on concourse Y.

In the international area the new outlets will be competing with existing outlets operated by incumbent retailer Dufry Group, which has begun to update its shops in the airport. RavenFox.com understands that the company was among bidders for the new shops and is favourite to gain additional space.
