Ex-DFS Group CEO Mike Ullman joins US domestic retailer JC Penney
Former DFS Group CEO Mike Ullman has been named as the successor to Allen Questrom as chairman and CEO of retailer JC Penney Company. He will join the retail company on December 1.
Commenting on the appointment Ullman said, "JC Penney is a legendary name in American retailing, and I am honoured to be joining this venerable organisation. Having met with the members of the board I am enthusiastic about what we can accomplish together. JC Penney's management team is extremely strong, and they have achieved great success during the past four years under Allen Questrom's leadership. I look forward to the opportunity to guide the company into the future."
Questrom said: "The board has done an outstanding job in recruiting Mike to join JC Penney. He has a superior record of success in retailing, and has demonstrated his effectiveness as a leader during his time at Macy's, LVMH, and the DFS. I am delighted that he will work with our strong management team and associates, customers, and shareholders."
Ullman has a wide spectrum of retail experience in both domestic and international markets. During the last 15 years, he has led Wharf Holdings in Asia and most recently LVMH Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton in Europe. As chairman and CEO officer at New York-based retailer Macy's he guided the company through organisational, cultural and financial change.
