Flemingo International is to manage a duty-free shop at the cruise terminal in Mumbai

Flemingo International is to run a duty-free shop at the cruise terminal at Mumbai as part of the redevelopment of what is traditionally a cargo port. The store is scheduled to open in October and the company said it expected to achieve better sales than at Chennai and Goa, where it also manages duty-free outlets.

More than 15 international cruiseships are expected to visit Mumbai this year and the facility can handle at least 3,000 passengers at a time. The terminal will also feature food and beverage facilities and a communication centre.

Mumbai port is to launch a domestic cruise service in October operated by Star Cruises of Malaysia. Reports indicate Flemingo has also received permission to open duty-free shops at Vizag and Haldia.
