Flemingo aims to continue growing in India, with a new departures outlet and plans to modernise its existing stores

Flemingo International has revealed that it will bid for duty-free retail space in the departures hall at Amritsar airport when a tender is published next year. The company?which operates at 10 Indian airports and at sea ports in Sri Lanka, and which runs a diplomatic supply business in Kenya?already boasts a 25sq m (269sq ft) arrivals store at the airport, and plans to grow its business there when tenders for additional space at Amritsar, Mumbai and Calcutta are launched.

Flemingo managing director Rasik Thakker told RavenFox.com: "All our stores are now open and running to expectations. Our outlets at Chennai, Bangalore, Goa and Trivandarum are doing particularly well."

The company is also modernising its store at Chennai, which is less than a year old, to offer a more open, self-service environment. Thakker said that if feedback on the move was positive, the company would roll out the same changes throughout its Indian stores.
