The airport authority has granted Tappoo a 10-year extension and is to make a decision on Motibhai Group's application soon
Fijian duty-free retailer Tappoo has extended its duty-free business at Nadi International airport in Fiji until January 2016. The company recieved confirmation from airport authority Airports Fiji earlier this week and rival operator Motibhai Group is confident that it will recieve confirmation shortly. The current contracts are due to expire in January 2006.
Airports Fiji retail officer Merel William told RavenFox.com that the decision on Motibhai Group's application to extend would be taken by the airport board, and that it would be resolved shortly.
Tappoo has also been granted extra adjoining space as part of the new contract and executive chairman Kanti Tappoo told RavenFox.com that he anticipated the company's total space at the airport to reach 500sq m (5,380sq ft) after the expansion, although exact space has yet to be defined.
Meanwhile Motibhai Group has hired an Australian design agency to renovate its stores to "increase footfall to have a greater impact on passengers' decisions to purchase", according to chairman and CEO Mahendra Motibhai-Patel.
