Canadian border trade organisation appoints human resources consultant as executive director
The Frontier Duty Free Association (FDFA) board of directors has appointed Laurie Karson as its executive director. She was appointed on the April 25 and will join the Ottawa office of the FDFA, sharing office space with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada.
In a statement the FDFA said: "Laurie Karson's extensive skills and outgoing personality will make her a strong presence for the Frontier Duty Free Association."
The FDFA represents Canada's 31 land border duty-free shops. Its activities include lobbying the government on duty-free issues and running the Gold Standards Award Programme, recognising excellence among the country's duty-free retailers. It holds an annual convention every November.
