Exhibitors book in for Singapore amid tough climate
Over 150 exhibitors have already booked their stands at the TFWA Asia Pacific show which will open in Singapore on 21 May, Tax Free World Association announced today. These numbers are almost 25% down on the 200 that attended TFWA Asia Pacific 2001 but TFWA is confident numbers will match last year's. Last year the event attracted 3,500 visitors (8.22% up on 2000), a third of whom were travel-retail buyers from the Asia Pacific region and further afield.
To date, the 13 new exhibitors confirming their attendance include liquor specialists Maxxium Global Duty Free, Cognac Godet, Heineken Export Group and Michel Laroche Wine, and fragrance and cosmetics houses Oilily, Phoenix Worldwide, Morris Profumi and O J Perrin-Mistral.
Don Camilo Cigars and Edito Cigars will join the list of quality tobacco manufacturers who will exhibit at the show and French couturier Jeanne Lanvin will showcase its collection of luxury travel-retail items. Newcomers Premier Portfolio and Nici will both display their ranges of high-quality gifts.
TFWA ceo Andrew Ford said, "The industry as a whole is still having a really tough time but there is a very positive mood among companies operating in the Asia Pacific region."
