Taiwanese operator pledges immediate funding plus 1% of sales for the next two months to tsunami relief
Everrich Duty Free Shop Corp has donated NT$15m ($471,700) to the special relief fund for victims of the Asian tsunami set up by Taiwan's foreign ministry. As reported by RavenFox.com yesterday, the operator pledged to donate a proportion of revenues to disaster relief. Further details have now emerged.
Everrich CEO Simon Chiang said: "Everrich is holding a relief fundraising campaign at our stores at Taipei Chiang-Kai Shek International airport and at Kaohsiung International airport. For every purchase at our stores, Everrich Duty Free will devote 1% of its sales revenues from January 1 to February 28 2005 as a donation to those countries affected by the tsunami tragedy."
He continued: "To provide immediate support, Everrich has devoted NT$15m to the special relief fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan in advance. Everrich will be more than happy to make a second donation if the campaign raises more than the estimated amount."
Chiang said Everrich "would like to work with our passengers from all over the world to make every effort to ease the pain of the victims and to ignite new life and strength after the worst natural catastrophe in this century".
