Average passenger traffic across the continent was up by 6.4% year-on-year

According to ACI Europe's latest report, passenger traffic across the continent's airports was up by 6.4% in September compared with the previous year. Traffic during the first nine months of the year posted growth of 8.1% year-on-year.

September growth was most impressive at some of the region's smaller airports, and traffic was up by 72.1% in Girona, by 45.2% in Riga and by 41.9% in Vilnius. Traffic across eastern Europe continued its impressive growth, with Prague airport reporting a year-on-year increase of 23.9% and Moscow Domodedevo posting growth of 16.5%.

Encouragingly, ACI's September figures compare favourably with September 2002, with ?Group 1? airports (those welcoming more than 25m passengers annually) enjoying growth of 4.6% on 2002. ?Group 2? airports (welcoming between 10m and 25m passengers) posted a traffic increase of 8.2% on September 2002, and ?Group 3? airports (between 5m and 10m passengers) were up by 15.3%.
