European Commission approves Paris joint venture

19-Mar-2003

The European Union Commission has approved the joint venture that will see Aeroports de Paris (AdP) and Aelia running duty-free at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport terminal two

As revealed exclusively by DFNI E-MAIL (January 23), the airport authority chose Aelia from a shortlist of seven companies after launching a tender for six liquor, tobacco, fragrances and cosmetics outlets in September 2002.

AdP vice president strategic and commercial affairs Alain Falque told DFNI then that the move represented a "major innovation" for both companies. "After an extensive process of consultations with various companies we decided to work with Aelia," he said. "It will be a completely new way of working for us."

The deal will be cleared within the month if no objections are raised by third parties.
