Euro 2004 drives 48% sales growth at Portuguese airports

The airport authority reports strong sales on the back of summer's soccer championship.

ANA-Aeroportos de Portugal has posted a 48% year-on-year increase in sales at Portuguese airports in June, spurred by visitors to the UEFA Euro 2004 soccer finals. The authority recorded sales of Eu17.3m ($21.4m).

ANA, which runs shops at airports in Lisbon, Porto and Faro, invested a total of Eu14.5m ($17.9m) in infrastructure to meet the expected passenger rise during Euro 2004, which took place in Portugal from June 12 to July 4 2004.
