Carrier wins best in the world for excellence in social media after entering finals as sole European airline

Estonian Air has won the second Annual SimpliFlying Awards for Excellence in Social Media after being nominated the best airline in the world in terms of driving revenue via social media.

The finals of SimpliFlying Awards of Excellence, which took place this week with 134 nominations, had Estonian Air as the only European airline shortlisted together with Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia in the category Best Use of Social Media to Drive Revenue. A reverse auction organised by the airline on social networking site Facebook during the summer drew positive feedback for its innovativeness and for successfully engaging customers.

Estonian Air marketing and development manager Gunnar Mägi said: “First place is a big acknowledgement for us, especially among the big players in the airline industry. Moreover, it is a proof of our efforts in being successful and a frontrunner in using social media.”
