Copenhagen Airports confirms that it will shortly send full tender documents to eight candidates keen to secure the duty-free contract at Kastrup airport

Copenhagen Kastrup airport landlord Copenhagen Airports has confirmed that it has shortlisted eight operators in the tender to run duty-free at the location. The deadline for registrations of interest passed on March 6 and full tender documents will be sent to the shortlisted candidates by mid-April.

Copenhagen Airports vice-president for commercial affairs Henrik Busch told RavenFox.com: "We are very happy with the interest shown in our airport. The eight bidders are all experienced companies in the industry and we are preparing detailed tender material to send to them before Easter.

"Interest has been high not only because Copenhagen is the biggest airport in Scandinavia, but also because we are now the 17th biggest in the world in terms of international departing passengers," continued Busch. "That means a lot and we are very happy to have attracted some of the world's biggest companies in this tender."

Most top European travel retailers are known to have studied the opportunity to run duty-free at Kastrup. Incumbent The Nuance Group has vowed to defend its contract but it will face competition from the likes of Gebr Heinemann, Aldeasa, Aelia and Dufry Group.
