Edrington makes further whisky divestments

17-Apr-2003

Scotch whisky group Edrington has sold a further two brands as part of its drive to focus on its core business

The Glengoyne and Langs brands have been taken over by Ian Macleod & Co, along with the Glengoyne distillery at Dumgoyne. The news follows last week's announcement that Edrington had sold the Bunnahabhain and Black Bottle brands to Burn Stewart.

Edrington chairman and ceo Ian Good said: "This latest disposal, along with the sale of Bunnahabhain and Black Bottle, is in line with the group's strategy of concentrating our investment resource behind developing our core brands--The Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark, The Macallan and Highland Park." The price of the purchases has not been disclosed.

Edrington Group is the owner of Highland Distillers and owns five distilleries in Scotland (The Macallan, Glenrothes, Tamdhu, Highland Park and Glenturret).
