Duty-Free News International editor John Rimmer is to leave publisher Raven Fox after over six years with the company
Raven Fox has announced that Duty-Free News International editor John Rimmer is to leave the company this summer. Rimmer joined the publisher in March 2000 and has served as editor of DFNI since October 2004. His replacement will be announced early next week.Raven Fox managing director Paul Kelly said: "John will be missed by his colleagues at Raven Fox, the readers of DFNI and his many friends in the industry. I am very sad to see John go. He is a true professional and great fun to work with. John is a very good editor, but first and foremost an excellent journalist. He should be proud of all he has achieved during his six years at Raven Fox and particularly in the past couple of years as editor of DFNI. On behalf of everyone at Raven Fox I wish John the very best for the future."
Rimmer joined Raven Fox as a trainee in March 2000 and was appointed liquor editor on DFNI in May that year. After a spell as deputy editor he was named editor of DFNI sister magazine Travel Retailer International in autumn 2003 before succeeding Dermot Davitt as editor of DFNI a year later.
Rimmer said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Raven Fox and consider it a privilege to have served as editor of the industry's leading title. I'm proud of the team we have built at DFNI, both in-house and freelance, and have every confidence that they will take the magazine from strength to strength in the future. They have been a pleasure to work with and a constant source of help and inspiration. I'll be working closely with my successor over the summer to ensure a smooth transition and to pass on the experience I've gained.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my friends and colleagues in the travel-retail industry for their support and cooperation down the years. This is a great business in which to work and I've been lucky to make what I hope will be lifelong friendships. I trust that my successor at DFNI will enjoy the same support that I've been fortunate to receive.
"In the meantime, I'll be doing all I can to ensure that my final few issues at the helm of DFNI maintain the standards I've sought to meet during my time here."
