If eastern Europe is to fulfil its enormous potential as an emerging duty-free region, the airport business will be crucial. As border stores and ferries face the loss of business that EU accession will bring to many states, airports are investing more in infrastructure, with retailing an increasingly important revenue stream. We examine the numbers from key regional locations.
