Jewellery manufacturer Känsla has become the latest sponsor of the first DFNI Scandinavian Conference
Swedish jewellery supplier Känsla has added its support to the DFNI Scandinavian Conference, to be held in Copenhagen’s Radisson SAS Scandinavia hotel on November 9-11. The company joins Danish distributor Valora Trade Travel Retail, DFDS Seaways and spirits company Arcus, Finnish confectionery company Leaf, Ian McLeod Distillers’ Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Danish jewellery company Dyrberg Kern and United Drinks’ Fishshot Vodka Shot in commiting to sponsoring the event, which focus on one of the most dynamic regions in global travel-retail.
Känsla produces what it calls functional jewellery, necklaces to which owners may attach mobile phones, iPods, sunglasses or ID badges, and it is embarking on its first push into the global duty-free market. The company is set to present a trunk show at the Harding Brothers-operated stores on board cruiseship Independence of the Seas at the end of October.
Vice president marketing and design Lisa Angerstig said: “We are targeting the Nordic regions plus all countries where people wear sun glasses including southern Europe, the US and Mexico. We currently have a distributor who has a contract with the airports at three duty-free stores in Sweden. Our goal is to get further airports signed up.”
Angerstig said the product will add value to duty-free displays without necessarily taking up additional space. “Displays that feature T-shirts and sun glasses will also be able to display the jewellery which doesn’t take up much room yet provides a good profit margin.”
The products are designed in Sweden and assembled with precious pearls and stones in Asia. Currently only women’s collections are available but Känsla is also working on a men’s range for release later this year.
