Duty Free World begins United contract

5-Sep-2003

Duty Free World has taken over inflight retail operations from on United Airlines.

United Airlines has completed the transition from its former inflight concessionaire Inflight Sales Group to Duty Free World. The carrier incurred a four-day gap in onboard trading while its trolleys were unloaded to replace stock as stipulated by US customs, but inflight manager Annette Gutsmiedl assured TRW that disruption was kept to a minimum.

The new catalogue boasts an extended children's range and a strong emphasis on fragrances, with Givenchy's Irresistible and Aramis' Agassi featured on the front and back covers. Gutsmiedl also revealed that gwps play a major role in United's inflight sales strategy, mentioning in particular a Bulova Marine Star watch and sunglasses gift box exclusive to United.

As reported in DFNI August 1, Duty Free World took over the United contract from Inflight Sales Group, marking the company's expansion into the North American market.
