Duty Free World Council unveils new travel-retail website

23-Jul-2004

The DFWC aims to spread its message to governments, regulatory bodies and media worldwide

The Duty Free World Council has launched a new website, www.dfworldcouncil.com, to act as a resource for information, news and data about the travel-retail and duty-free industries.

Aimed at opinion-formers outside the sector, whether in government, regulatory bodies or the media, the site will be used to promote the DFWC's stance on key issues. The recently formed umbrella organisation, which comprises representatives from existing national, regional and related trade associations, aims to become a mouthpiece for travel retailers at the highest level.

Initially the website will offer industry data provided by travel-retail analyst Generation AB, position papers on key topics and a directory of trade associations and key trade journals.

The DFWC website has been financed by contributions from IAADFS, MEDFA, TFWA, Frontier Duty Free Association and the newly-formed European Travel Retail Council, with content provided by Generation AB and Marshall Lightfoot plc.

?Through this website we will be able to project a positive image of our industry to governments, regulatory bodies and key media,? said Sarah Branquinho, Business Relationships Director, BAA plc, who has coordinated the project. ?The site offers a window through which the world can see the relevance of duty and tax free sales to the travel, tourism and transport industry as a whole.?
