Dufry wins two key Changi T1 concessions

The Swiss retailer has been awarded watches and electronics concessions at the Singapore hub
Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has awarded Dufry Group the three-year watch concession at Singapore Changi airport terminal one, departure/transit lounge west. The retailer beat competition from incumbent Richburgh Holdings and King Power Group.CAAS has also awarded Dufry a three-year lifestyle electronics contract at Changi T1, departure lounge east. Dufry and rival electronics concessionaire Boon & Co were the only bidders for the contract, which begins on November 15.
The watch contract, which begins on November 1, covers an outlet of 228sq m (2,450sq ft). CAAS has an option to extend the contract for two years after it expires in November 2008.
Dufry bid 10% of monthly gross sales or a minimum monthly guarantee of S$410,830 ($243,095), whichever is higher. Richburgh's bid stood at 10% of monthly gross sales or an MMG of S$380,999 ($225,443) in year one, S$370,999 ($219,526) in year two and S$360,999 ($213,609) in year three. King Power also bid 10% of monthly sales or an MMG of S$274,000 ($162,130) in year one, S$288,000 ($170,414) in year two and S$303,000 ($179,290) in year three.
As reported by RavenFox.com on August 30, Dufry was in a strong position to win the electronics business based on its financial offer. It offered 12% of sales or a monthly minimum of S$150,000 ($90,000) on sales up to S$1.25m ($748,500). Above S$1.25m, it offered a minimum of S$167,000 ($100,000).
In other Changi news, Select Service Partner was one of three winners of food and beverage contracts in terminal one.
