Dufry opens in Sharm El Sheikh T2

The retailer has opened four stores at Egypt’s second-busiest airport

Dufry Group has opened four stores at Sharm El Sheikh terminal two, its first operations at the facility. The retailer’s ofer there comprises a 631sq m (sq ft) main departures store, a 93sq m (sq ft) handicraft and fine food shop, a 23sq m (sq ft) Bijoux Terner outlet and a 91sq m (sq ft) arrivals store.

Dufry Africa COO Miguel Martinez said: “Sharm El Sheikh is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Red Sea. Our presence at the airport is an excellent opportunity for Dufry to pursue its strategy on emerging markets and tourist destinations.”

Dufry recently won the five-year contract to operate retail at the terminal at Sharm el Sheikh, which is the biggest airport in Egypt after Cairo International airport. In 2006 it served around 5m passengers. According to ACI reports Egypt is one of the fastest-growing destinations in Africa.
