Dufry opens Cambodian shops

9-Dec-2003

Dufry Travel Retail last month opened its new stores in the airports of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia

The company has three stores at Phnom Penh, including a large departures store, an arrivals outlet and a further souvenirs store in departures in partnership with local group Les Artisans d'Angkor.

At the country's second largest airport, Siem Reap-Angkor International airport, Dufry has opened two shops: one in arrivals and one in the departure terminal. These are temporary shops and will be re-built once the new airport in Siem Reap opens in 2006. The departure shop offers a wide range of locally produced Khmer souvenir products as well as traditional duty free items. Siem Reap, famous for its Angkor Wat temple, attracts many tourists so the assortment in the arrival shop caters largely to these arriving passengers.

Dufry coo Eurasia & Asia René Riedi said: "We are very proud of being present in Cambodia which is a foothold in this region with considerable growth potential in tourism. Thanks to the support of SCA (Société Concessionnaire de l'Aéroport - Airport Authorities of Cambodia) and Les Artisans d'Angkor, we were able to open five very attractive shops. Cambodia will pave the way for further developments in the region."
