Dufry gains provide Asian launchpad
Dufry cements its presence at Singapore Changi
Dufry Singapore has regained a strong foothold at Singapore Changi airport with three new concessions, for photographic equipment, confectionery and for a Bijoux Terner store. And the company has said these will underpin its ambitions to expand in Asia/Pacific travel-retail.
The photographic store will be in T1, over a space of 91sq m (980sq ft) and opens on May 1. This will complement the three existing Dufry stores, one in T1, the others in T2, which offer lifestyle electronics, computers and computer accessories.
As previously reported, Dufry has won two stores for chocolates and delicacies in T2. The first opens in mid-May, the other in mid-July.
In addition, Dufry Singapore has won one of five brand name concessions, and will operate a store on behalf of Bijoux Terner, the single-price retailer, where a range of products will be available at $20.
The two categories that will be introduced are the classical Bijoux Terner collection offering custom jewellery, shawls, sunglasses and watches, and the Bijoux Home collection consisting of home accessories, cutlery sets, crockery sets, all in contemporary designs and packed in a gift form. The new 50sq m (540sq ft) shop will be located in T2, and will operate from July 1.
Dufry chief operations officer Eurasia and Asia René Riedi said: "We are very happy to increase our presence at Singapore Changi and would like to thank Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore for these new opportunities Combined with our existing operations in Singapore, Cambodia and our interests for other Asian countries our new shops at Singapore Changi create the perfect synergy and present a strong foundation for any future expansion".
