Dufry appoints new head in Mexico

The operator has named La Casa del Habano pioneer Rodolfo Velasco Alvarez as head of its important Mexican business

Swiss-based operator Dufry Group has named Rodolfo Velasco Alvarez as the new general director of Dufry Mexico. Velasco, who joined Dufry last month, will be responsible for the company's duty-free and duty-paid operations in Mexico, including its border stores in the north plus airport and port shops in the Yucatan peninsula.

Velasco has 25 years' experience in regional retail and duty-free, and opened the first ever Casa del Habano store, in Cancun.

Dufry coo Americas and Caribbean Jose Gonzalez said: "I have known Rodolfo for many years and I am delighted to welcome him to the Dufry Americas team."
