The Swiss group is to operate retail space at the Moscow airport's new terminal one, set to open in January next year

Dufry Group has beaten Gebr Heinemann and Russian rival Kapo Duty-Free to take space at Moscow Sheremetyevo's new terminal one, according to Russia and CIS news digest Novecon. The new terminal is expected to serve 5m passengers annually and will replace the old T1, which will be refurbished to handle business jets.

Dufry will occupy 4,000sq m (43,040sq ft) of duty-free retail space once the terminal is opened in January 2007. The company will make a $24m down payment for operating the space. The report added that Aerofirst, the partnership between Aer Rianta International and Russian flag carrier Aeroflot that already operates duty-free in Sheremetyevo's main international T2, decided not to bid for the space as terms were unacceptable.
