Dufry Group has opened one of the retailer's biggest duty-free shopping areas at Mexico City International airport
Dufry Group has completed the opening of the new Dufry Boulevard at Mexico City International airport. The retailer claimed that at 1,592sq m (17,129sq ft), the shopping centre is one of the biggest duty-free retail zones worldwide. It was built in collaboration with Mexico City airport authority under the supervision of Aeropuertos and Servicios Auxiliares.
The new space is divided into two interconnected shopping aisles, incorporating a fashion area, watches zone, accessories section and space for confectionery and watches. The 1,029sq m (11,070sq ft) central area features a number of international brands including Hugo Boss, Hermès, Bvlgari, Burberry, Lacoste, Longchamp, Ermenegildo Zegna, Nike and Tag Heuer.
Dufry has also opened a 137sq m (1,474sq ft) Mango fashion boutique, the Spanish retail brand's first airport outlet. Also featuring in the Dufry Boulevard are jewellery and watches boutiques from H Stern, Cartier, Hermès and Montblanc. A 224sq m (2,410sq ft) Leisure Time store offers sport items, toys, travel equipment, music and electronics and confectionery.
The 485sq m (5,220sq ft) main duty-free store, which opened in September, is located at the J entrance to the international gates. The walk-through outlet offers traditional duty-free categories such as fragrances, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco and confectionery.
The company said the Mexico City Boulevard is Dufry's biggest project in the Americas.
Dufry's rival Mexico City retailer Latinoamericana de Duty Free completed its own renovation at the airport in December (DFNI January 15).
